The Ford Focus ST stock intercooler is basically useless and heat soaks extremely fast. There are many aftermarket intercoolers made specifically for the Focus ST because it should be one of the first upgrades you make. Ours goes further to give you excellent temperature control and looks to match.

What separates our design from others is it uses as much of the 2013-14 ST grill that we can with out blocking the air flow to the radiator. Its specifically designed for those that love the clean look of the open front grill! We use a standard size intercooler (made by many companies) and provide all the necessary hardware and piping needed to fit this to the Focus ST.

Our test show the Mishimoto tube and fin core does not perform to the same cooling efficiency as our standard bar and plate core, but still looks as great and performs significantly better thanks stock!

 Tube and Fin cores are usually lighter, and have less flow restriction when compared to bar and plate designs. Bar and plate cores generally offer more heat rejection when compared to tube and fin designs.

The Garrett® direct fit Ford Focus ST performance charge air cooler boasts a 115% larger core that helps reduce intake manifold temperatures by an average of 11 ℉ (6.1 ℃) based on OBD II data. Optimized end tanks improve air flow through the core. This performance intercooler showed an increase of up to 25 HP (19 kW) and 9 lb-ft (12 N-m) of torque compared to OE during back to back dyno comparisons in a wind tunnel which generates air velocity that matches vehicle speed. During testing the heat saturation point increased from 4 dyno pulls to 8 dyno pulls.

This direct fit performance intercooler installs in 1.5 hours and can support up to 670 HP (499 kW) all while reusing the stock bolts, hoses, and clamps. This intercooler also features an integrated drain plug to allow removal of condensation buildup.

Mishimoto 2013+ Ford Focus ST Black Intercooler w/ Black Pipes:

It's time to make your cool off your hot-hatch with the Mishimoto Performance Intercooler Kit for the 2013+ Ford Focus ST. Ford released their 2.0T EcoBoost powered Focus boasting the perfect combination of performance and practicality, however the intercooling system left something to be desired. While the piping did feature sections of aluminum, the restrictive diameter, not to mention the turbo muffler put a damper on the Focus ST's performance potential. We've replaced the hot-side pipe with mandrel-bent aluminum, both ditching the muffler and also opening up the diameter to allow a 26% better flow through the hot-side. All of the degradation-prone rubber has also been swapped for wire-reinforced silicone ensuring a long lasting connection on the hot-side, but also a soother flow through the cold-side pipe. Together the Focus ST Intercooler Pipe kit grants a 21% increase in flow to and from the intercooler. The piping isn't the only part of this kit that increases flow, the bar-and-plate construction opens up air channels within the core allowing for the charged air to pass through more freely than the stock intercooler core. This upgraded all aluminum construction also aids in heat dissipation, warding off the dreaded heat-soak under demanding driving conditions, and delivering properly cooled air through the ST's intake manifold. The Focus ST Performance Intercooler Kit will also add 8 HP and 10 TQ to your power band and has a maximum horsepower rating of 550HP. The Mishimoto Performance Intercooler Kit for your 2013+ is available in silver, black, or gold, with an option of wrinkle black or polished piping.
